Intuition Exchange: June 6-12

Well I think it's safe to say that Earth is the dominant element this week. In the Four of Arrows (Swords) imagery in the Wildwood Tarot, the man is pinned to the earth, even though Arrows are the suit of Air. I think the Four of Arrows is always a welcome card. That may be because I'm a serious introvert and need my rest and recovery time, but even extroverts need that time, maybe even more than us introverts because they don't realize how much they need it. Taking time to recharge is so important, though. Just like the butterfly in the foreground of the card, we cannot fully transform into our true selves without taking time to build up enough energy. Being that Arrows and the suit of Air deal with our minds, the break needed is a mental one. Step back a little this week and make sure your head is in the right place.

I also pulled Earth from both the Arcana of Astrology and the Oracle of Oddities, and if that's not a giant, blinking neon sign, I don't know what is. Earth reminds us that we need a strong foundation. Otherwise, anything we build is forever in jeopardy of collapsing around us. As you go inward this week, take a good look at why you're doing the things you're doing, whether that pertains to your job, relationships, or creative endeavors. Really understand the reasons behind your actions. If you feel aligned with those reasons, strengthen them. If you realize you've been doing the right thing for the wrong reasons, or vice versa, you need to start from the beginning. It may seem like a lot of work now, but if you keep going like this, your foundation will eventually collapse, and you will have a whole lot more work to do then.

Earth also points to the literal aspects of nature and their healing powers. I've been saying this a lot lately, but it's absolutely worth repeating. If you're feeling stuck or lost or unbalanced, go outside. Do some meditation. Take a walk. Plant something. Hell, climb a tree. Never underestimate the power of fresh air, dirty hands, calloused feet, and scraped knees. There's something visceral about connecting to the Earth, to the creatures that have been here for millennia. Tap into that ancient memory. Listen to what it tells you. As humans we often feel that because we're of a higher conscience, we're above the plants and animals of the Earth. But we forget that most of them have been here far longer than we have, and they will probably be here after we're gone. So listen to the Earth this week. There is no more powerful mother than the planet who gave us all life.
